In memory of Mr. Alyre Richard

on Friday, 01 May 2020. Posted in Obituaries

Mr. Alyre Richard from Saint John, New Brunswick passed away on February 14, 2020 at the age of 96. Our deepest sympathy is extended to his eight children and extended family.

Mr. Richard was a WWII veteran and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Following his wartime service, he worked for many years as a carpenter, building houses in the greater Saint John area. He also worked for Canadian Pacific Railway in Saint John as a freight handler.

In 1963, Alyre became active in the work of MICHAEL and Vers Demain. Social Credit was for him a light on his path as it was for the founder of the Pilgrims of St. Michael, Louis Even. His life was changed forever by his association with us. He continued to be an active member of our organization, even into his old age and until poor health forced his retirement. Despite the great distances to be covered, he regularly attended our meetings in Rougemont, Quebec, including the annual Siege of Jericho and our Congresses.

Mr. Richard was in charge of our work in the provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia for many years. As such, he accompanied local and full-time Pilgrims on the door to door Rosary Crusade and visited the regions’ many subscribers. In the recent past, Alyre completed tours with full-time Pilgrim Melvin Sickler and with Mr. and Mrs. Mark Lawyer from New Brunswick and Bertrand Gaouette from Quebec. Often he would reach out to Mr. Sickler to arrange apostolate tours, understanding that it was a privilege to be an apostle of Social Credit working toward true social justice. He would often help out apostles financially so they could continue in their work, truly understanding the importance of both reaching souls and educating the population on issues of social justice. We grew to respect Alyre Richards’ pure heart.

Throughout the years, Mr. Richard was a faithful and generous donor, helping the Pilgrims of St. Michael to finance our publications. He was always happy to feed and shelter us during our apostolate tours in his area. Alyre Richard will be greatly missed. We know that his life was filled with merit and that a beautiful crown awaits him. For each soul we help to save, an additional star will be added to our crown in Heaven for all eternity. How many souls Mr. Richard helped to save by his work with the Pilgrims of St. Michael! So we pray for him. May he rest in peace.
