In our great factories Canadair for example the unions have caused to be cir- ulated a sort of requisition laying upon each employee the near-obligation of donating one dollar to the war chest to be used in the political campaigns of the "New Party".
Since the unions, in practice, control the livelihood of the workers, this request is equivalent to an order. No one would dare to defy it, regardless of what their personal opinion might be, for fear of being put on the black list or for fear of reprisals.
To put down exactly what I think: This is an abuse of power; it is terrorism.
Suppose that Duplessis, at the height of his power, had circulated an order among the officials of his provincial administration, calling upon each to contribute one dollar to the treasury of the National Union party. La Presse, Le Devoir (two Montreal French-language dailies notorious for their Socialist propaganda - ED) the Liberals, the leftists, the Socialists of every hue and color, would have raised a veritable tempest, crying out against this dictatorship, this abuse of power, this terrorism. And rightly so.
Supposing the management of these factories were to pass around a circular among their employees asking each to contribute money to the coffers of the Liberal party or the Conservative party. This act, likewise, would arouse a violent storm and justly so.
But then, what difference do you see between these revolting hypotheses, and the black-mail being conducted by the Unions in favor of the "New Party"?
These leftists, partisans of the C.C.F. who have turned themselves into the "New Party" call upon the name of liberty with the greatest of ease. In reality, the C.C.F., or the "New Party" is a Socialist party, a group supporting the dictatorship of the State, radically hostile to liberty, individual or collective. The blackmail being practiced by the unions upon the workers is witness of how liberty of opinion is cast aside and trampled upon with very little hesitation.
The unions and syndicates have an important role to play in protecting the workers in the material order and improving them in the moral order. They betray their mission when the unscrupulous use them as a springboard for a party and for personal ambition. The workers who do not wish to submit to dictatorship should see to the thorough cleansing of their ranks.

"Every individual who makes the effort necessary to understand Social Credit brings Social Credit nearer".
B.W. Monahan. Introduction to Social Credit, p. 105.
Any effective remedy to economic depression must reverse the claim of the banking system to the ownership of the financial credit extended to industry, a claim which is implied by the fact that at present money, constituting in main new purchasing power, is loaned to a bank's customer, not given.
