Fr. Chaput in his cassock at the Congress of the Pilgrims of St. Michael in 1992 |
The charitable pastor of St. Michael’s Catholic parish in Rougemont, Fr. Jacques Chaput, died in St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, on May 14, after a very painful sickness.
The Pilgrims of St. Michael remember him for all of the services that he gave them with much generosity: his availability in administrating the sacrament of Penance; the celebration of the Holy Mass, and to have given us so often the precious treasure of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.
Each week during our Siege of Jericho, he came to celebrate a Holy Mass. And afterwards our Pilgrims were able to hear his encouraging words augmented with much humour, all the while transmitting his evangelising message. By means of his good humour and patience, he had the charisma to establish good relations between the parishioners and different groups.
We join our fervent prayers to those of his parents and friends as well as all the parishioners of Rougemont, and we will have a Holy Mass celebrated for him at the chapel of the House of the Immaculate. May God receive him in Paradise!
