The Institute of Political Action, which publishes this paper and guides a Social Credit movement on a non-party basis, has developed a fine group of full-time missionaries to carry the message near and far.
Until this year, these missionaries were at work mainly in the Province of Quebec, a section of New Brunswick, and Northern Ontario. It was only occasionally that they were sent to farther fields. But this year the Institute considerably expands its field of action.
The Province of Quebec has now been fairly well propagandized, and the Institute there is presently concerned with the establishment of an increasing number of "Foyers Creditistes" (Social Credit centres), to train local members to carry on without the help of full-time men, freeing these for less advanced territories in Canada.
After a three-day conference with the Directors of the Institute last month, the body of missionaries were assigned a three-month program, most of them outside the Province of Quebec.
On the second day of this month they all left for their respective missions, where they are presently giving their very best.
Two of these missionaries, Roland Tessier and Robert Leroux, are in Prince Edward Island, a brand new field for Social Credit.
Three others, Urbain Lajeunesse, Bernard Gaouette and Lucien Lambert, are in Nova Scotia to continue and extend the pioneer work commenced there in November and December.
And two others, Guy Jean and Camille St-Cyr, canvass the district from Temiskaming to Timmins, Cochrane and Hearst, in northwestern Ontario.
Still another team of two, Arthur Beauchemin and Elie-Ange Fortin, do the same from North Bay to Sudbury, and up to Sault Ste. Marie, in Ontario.
The southern sections of Ontario - Toronto, Sarnia and Windsor – are being visited by Louis-Philippe Bouchard.
Also, working singly, Bertrand Gaouette starts from Chapleau and vicinity, and will proceed westward to Fort William, and then west to Kenora in northwestern Ontario near the Manitoba border.
At the same time, two missionaries, Alphonse Pelletier and Renaud Paris, are in the Province of Manitoba.
All will return to Montreal at the end of March to meet and exchange notes, and to plan a new program for the following months. Newfoudland will then be added to the mission field, making a total of seven out of the ten provinces of Canada where the Social Credit message will be carried by men of the Institute of Political Action.
At the same time, the sale of literature and subscriptions is proceeding, and contacts are being made, in all the Western provinces.
Four directors are appointed to take charge of consolidating this work throughout the provinces, by the establishment of Social Credit centres wherever suitable and possible. For this purpose, the whole of this vast territory is divided into four sections, each one assigned to one of the Directors.
Quebec region, from the Three Rivers district to Montmagny, and the district of Chicoutimi and Lake St. John, are thus entrusted to Gerard Mercier. Montreal region, from Mont-Laurier to the US border and the border of Ontario, is entrusted to Herve Provencher. The far eastern part'of Quebec, and all the Maritime provinces, to Antonio Mignault. The northwestern part of Quebec (Abitibi) and Ontario and Manitoba, to Henri-Louis Lapierre..
1956 is really a year of great expansion for the Institute of Political Action. Hardships and obstacles do not overcome, but rather temper and strengthen, our missioners. Most of them are young men, men of rare courage and faith who have dedicated their lives to the service of Christ and Country.
Information is being spread, the seeds of Social Credit are being sown far and wide, a veritable army of Canadians dedicated to the Social Credit way of life is slowly but surely being recruited. Social Credit is on the move. It is not to be denied.
