The Holy Hour of the Pilgrims of St. Michael

on Monday, 01 January 2001. Posted in Prayers & Rosaries

Pope John Paul II encourages Catholics to hold a Holy Hour of adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament at least once a week. We, the Pilgrims of Saint Michael, do it every Sunday. Here are the prayers we use. (To fill the hour, you add hymns between each act.)

Here are the main petitions for this Holy Hour:

1. The sanctification of our people; the return of families to Christian life.

2. The sanctification of our priests.

3. The sanctification of the Pilgrims of Saint Michael.

4. The coming of a Christian and Social Credit society, in our nation and in every nation in the world.

Cor Jesu Sacratissimum:

(repeated three times)

O Salutaris Hostia

O salutaris Hostia,

Quae caeli pandis ostium!

Bella premunt hostilia,

Da robur, fer auxilium.

Uni trinoque Domino,

Sit sempiterna gloria;

Qui vitam sine termino

Nobis donet in patria. Amen.

Act of faith

(Recited by one person, slowly.).

Ô Jesus, You who love me so much, You who are the true God and present here, hidden in the Blessed Sacrament, I beseech You, listen to me.

Ô Eternal Word, true Son of God, made man and a sacrament for the love of me, my heart is filled with joy when I think that I am presently before You, who are my God, the Supreme Majesty, Infinite Goodness, and who cherishes my soul so tenderly.

You said: "I will be with you all days until the end of the world." With all my soul, Ô Jesus, I believe that You are here present in the consecrated Host, present with Your Body, Your Bloood, Your Soul, Your Divinity, true God and true man, under the appearance of bread.

I believe that, from Your altar, You see me, and You hear me; I believe that my poor tribute of faith and love pleases Your Divine Heart immensely.

With my heart filled with assurance, o so good Jesus, I come to spend one hour with You, to console You, and to gladden Your adorable Heart, by offering You my acts of adoration, thanksgivings, reparation, and my many requests.

Ô God and Saviour, Jesus-Eucharist, Ô Divine Lover of souls, how beautiful are the inventions of Your charity, to invite ụs to love You! Ô Eternal Word, to become a man and die for us was not enough; You also gave us this Sacrament to be our companion, our food, and to guarantee us Heaven. Ô Lord, Your love is overgenerous;

You do not know what more to invent to win over men's hearts. Ô beloved Jesus, help us to love You with ardor! It is not fair to love with reserve a God whose tenderness goes so far. Reveal to our hearts the rights You have over them, and make them sensible to the triumphant charms of Your love. I love you, Ô my Jesus! I love You, Ô infinite Goodness! You are my treasure, my joy, my supreme love...."

Angels of the sanctuary, burning seraphims who surround the tabernacle, kindle my heart with your celestial ardors. And You, my sweet and tender Mother, Mother of Beautiful Love, help me to love my God, who loved me so much. Amen.

The Rosary

Let us ask Mary, the Mother: of Jesus, to allow us to adore Her Divine Son with Her for one hour. Act of adoration....

Ô Jesus, ô beloved Master, here we are, kneeling down before Your altar, to recognize our own misery, and to proclaim Your infinite Majesty. Ô almighty and immortal King, I confess Your infinite greatness. I bow down and I adore You, who are hidden under the veil of the Holy Host. I believe, Ô Jesus-Host, that You are the very soul and life of Christianity. Without Your Host, our temples would become cold and lonely homes. Priests would be without altars, and the souls, without light and love, would soon follow the dark paths of error, and forget their duties. Your throne,: upon which You are presently seated, is the only one that will last forever. Kings can remain without subjects, but Your Host will never remain without worshippers. At this very moment, although conscious of our smällness in front of Your infinite greatness, and feeling Your loving welcome, we unite with all of Your worshippers - in the entire world, to say to You, with faith and love: Ô Host greater than Heaven and the universe, we adore You! Ô most loving Jesus-Host, we want to visit: You often in Your Sacrament of Love, to adore You as we do now. And we make a resolution to come again. Like the thirsty deer longs for the source of running water, so we, the passionate friends of Your Eucharistic Heart, will come often to You, the inexhaustible source of divine life. Accept the solemn resolution we make to live the Eucharist, to make You forgive our old acts of ingratitude, and those of so many Christians who desert Your tabernacles, altars, and holy rails. Accept, Ô Lord, the last word of our prayer: We adore You, Ô Jesus, in the Blessed Sacrament!

In all the Tabernacles of the earth, in all the consecrated Hosts of the entire world,

All, after each invocation: Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, we, adore You!

In those Tabernacles where You are forgotten, Eucharistic Heart...

In those churches where Your divine Majesty is offended by irreverence or sacrileges; in satanic churches where You are deliberately insulted and blasphemed, Eucharistic Heart...

On the floor of the sanctuary, in the dust of the road, and especially where sacrilegious hands have profaned a consecrated Host, Eucharistic Heart...

On the lips of those who, like Judas, receive You with hearts soiled by sin, Eucharistic Heart...

In the splendor which Holy Mother Church displays in her public services, in order to honor the Sacrament of Your love, Eucharistic Heart...

In union with all Your friends, who by perpetual adoration try to repair the offences committed against You in the Sacred Host, Eucharistic Heart...

With the angels of the sanctuary and Your sweet Mother, Eucharistic Heart...

Act of thanksgiving

Ô Jesus, as days pass, our hearts become filled with sweet memories. The Eucharist reminds us of all the graces You showered upon us, like a path filled with flowers. We cannot look at Your Host without singing Your praises, filled with joy and gratefulness. Good Jesus, we thank You. We thank You for having given Yourself to us; we thank You for having enlightened the first days of our lives with the light of faith; we thank You for continuing to shower Your graces upon us. In our lives, Ô Jesus, there is not a single moment that is not marked by Your goodness. Our poor hearts had to face terrible attacks, but they always found in You a comforter. To our repeated calls, You always replied with words of love. Yes, thank You, Ô Jesus, for having created us, for having redeemed us with Your Blood, for having made us Christians through the Sacrament of Baptism, for having forgiven us so many times in the Sacrament of Penance, and for having borne us for so long when we fell into disgrace. How sad we would be if we had died in such a state! We would now be in hell, lost for ever. Above all, we thank You, beloved Jesus, for having given Yourself to us in Holy Communion, and for accepting us in Your presence. We thank You on behalf of all those who do not think about doing so. We do not want to spend one single day without showing our gratefulness for Your continuous kindnesses, so that one day, in Heaven, we may praise for ever Your ineffable mercy. Amen.

Ô beloved Savior, for the gratuitous and inestimable gift of faith: All: Infinite gratitude to Your most lovable Heart!

For the treasure of grace and the virtue of hope, which shows us Heaven, the goal of this life's tribulation: Infinite gratitude...

For the saving Ark of Your Church, persecuted, but always victorious: Infinite gratitude...

For the incomprehensible mercy with which You pardon all sin through the Sacraments of Baptism and Penance: Infinite gratitude...

For the tenderness You lavish on suffering souls who praise You in their trials and crosses: Infinite gratitude...

For the marvelous manifestations of Your love in the conversion of the most hardened sinners: Infinite gratitude...

For the blessings of peace or trials, of sickness or health, of riches or poverty, often misunderstood, by which You ransom innumerable souls: Infinite gratitude...

For the signal benefits bestowed on so many ingrates who misuse their position, their fortune, their talents, which they owe to You alone: Infinite gratitude...

For Your Holy Eucharist, for Your captivity and delightful companionship promised us until the consummation of the world: Infinite gratitude....

Finally, for the wondrous, incomprehensible gift of Your Sacred Heart: Infinite gratitude...

Act of Reparation

Adorable Jesus, Divine Savior of souls, completely covered with confusion, I prostrate myself in Your presence, and as I fix my glance on the lonely Tabernacle, and see the neglect in which You are left by so many ransomed souls, I feel my heart oppressed.

Merciful Jesus, have mercy on us! We come, our hearts filled with sorrow, to ask Your forgiveness for our own sins, for those of our families, of our parish, of our country, of all mankind. Ô Jesus, so good, hear our prayer. In order to rejoice Your loving and merciful Heart, we repeat the act of reparation that was given by Your Vicar on earth, Pope Pius XI:

"Ô sweetest Jesus, Thou dost pour forth Thy love abundantly on men, while they repay Thee most ungratefully with neglect, indifference and contempt. Behold we humbly pray before Thine altar; we would fain repair this heartless ingratitude on the part of men, and the manifold injuries that are everywhere done to Thy most loving Heart, by a special act of homage.

"Yet we are not unmindful that we, too, have had our part in this unworthy behavior; therefore we are moved to deep contrition, and, above all, we beg Thy mercy for ourselves; we are ready to atone, by this voluntary act of expiation, for the crimes which we ourselves have committed, as also for the sins of those who, straying far from the way of salvation, either refuse, in the blindness of their unbelief, to follow Thee, the Shepherd and Guide of their souls, or who trample upon the vows of their Baptism and shake off the sweet yoke of Thy law.

"Not only are we anxious'to expiate all these deplorable crimes, but in an especial manner do we purpose to make reparation for the following: immodesty and shameful excesses in life and dress; the many snares of corruption laid for the souls of the innocent; the neglect of holidays; the hateful blasphemies that are hurled against Thee and Thy Saints; the reproaches uttered against Thy Vicar on earth and all the priestly order; the neglect, also, of the very Sacrament of Thy love, as well as its profanation by horrifying sacrileges; and finally the public sins of the nations in rebellion against the just rights and the teaching authority of the Church established by Thee.

"Would that we were able to atone for all these outrages, even to the shedding of our blood! Meanwhile, in order to atone for the violations of the honor due to Thee, we offer unto Thee that selfsame satisfaction which of old Thou didst offer to the Father upon the holy Cross, and which from day to day Thou dost continually renew upon the altars of Thy Church. To this we add the expiatory merits of Thy Virgin Mother, of all Thy Saints and of the devout faithful upon earth. With all our hearts we promise to atone, Thy grace assisting us, for our own past sins and those of all other men, as also for our coldness towards Thine exceeding great love, by a firm faith, spotless purity of life, and the perfect fulfilment, so far as in us lies, of the law of the Gospel, and in particular of the precept of charity.

"We likewise pledge ourselves in accordance with our strength to prevent such injuries from being done to Thee, and to invite as many as we can to follow Thee. Accept, we pray Thee, most gracious Jesus, through the intercession of Our Lady of Reparation, this our free-will offering of reparation, and be Thou pleased to keep us, by the great gift of final perseverance, faithful even unto death in our dutiful service of Thee, so that in the end we may all come to our true native land, where Thou, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, livest and reignest for ever and ever. Amen."

For infidelities and sacrileges, All: Pardon, Divine Heart!

For blasphemies and the profanation of Sunday, Pardon...

For licentiousness and public scandals, Pardon...

For those who corrupt childhood and youth, Pardon...

For deliberate disobedience to Your holy Church, Pardon...

For the crimes of families, for the faults of parents and children, Pardon...

For criminal attempts against the Sovereign Pontiff, Pardon...

For disturbers of peace in Christian society, Pardon...

For abuse of the Sacraments, and insults to Your Holy Eucharist, Pardon...

For vile attacks by the press, and for the machinations of secret societies, Par. don...

For injustices, hatred, jealousy, slander, Pardon...

For our own sins, those of our relatives, of our friends, of our parish, of our nation, of the entire world, Pardon...

Act of demand

Your mercy, Ô Lord, is not enough; Your interests are also ours. We want Your kingdom to come! We therefore ask You, along with the Holy Church, we beseech You, through the intercession of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, to establish, to hasten the reign of Your divine Heart. Yes, Jesus, hasten to reign over us, before Satan and the world snatch away from You consciences, and profane, in Your absence, so many souls redeemed by Your blood. Come, Jesus, and make of every heart the throne of Your love.

Ô good Master, in accordance with Your will, we want to commend our neighbour to you. We pray to You for our beloved Father, the Sovereign Pontiff, for all the Bishops and all the priests. Fill them with Your Spirit, enlighten their minds with the splendors of the faith, give them words filled with fire, so that they can convert and sanctify the whole world.

We commend to you the infidels, the heretics, and all sinners. Give them the light and the strength that they need to abandon sin, and to strive to love only You, who are the Sovereign Good. May they understand that You are the ocean of mercy, and that You came on earth to save what was lost, and that You do not want the death of sinners, but that they may have life, and have it abundantly. We commend to You the dying, our parents, our benefactors, our friends, our enemies; may they be happy and saintly. We commend to You the leaders of our nation: may they be just, virtuous, and strong; may they pursue and achieve the common good, so that our families may be protected from all injustice, and possess a prosperity and freedom wanted by God. We also commend to You the poor souls in Purgatory: hasten to take them with You into Heaven.

Finally, we pray for ourselves, Ô our Jesus-Sacrament. From this altar, throne of Your love, grant us, through Your merits, a great sorrow and forgiveness of our sins. Give us holy humility, sweetness, a spirit of sacrifice and of Christian mortification, patience and resignation in illness and trials. Give us great confidence in You, good Jesus, and in Your admirable Mother. Give us the supreme gift of Your holy Love, the will to no longer offend You, even with the smallest voluntary sin; grant us perseverance until death in Your grace, and the eternal glory of Your Paradise. Amen.

Consecration to the Sacred Heart

(Recited by all, one pauses at the slashes.)

I give and consecrate to the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ, / my person and my life, / my actions, sorrows, and sufferings / so will not use any part of my being, / but to honor, love, and glorify Him..

It is my irrevocable will to be all His, / and to do everything for His love, / giving up with all my heart, I all that could displease Him.

I therefore take Thee, Ô Sacred Heart, / as the unique object of my love, / the protector of my life, / the assurance of my salvation, / the remedy to my fragility and inconstance, / the redeemer of all the faults of my life, / and my refuge at the hour of death.

Be therefore, ô Heart of Kindness, / my justification before God, your Father. / And turn from me the strokes of His just wrath.

Ô loving Heart, I place my confidence in You, / for fear all things from my malice and my weakness, / but I hope for everything from Your goodness. / Consumate everything in me, / all that could displease or resist You. / May Your pure love imprint itself so deeply in my heart / that never will I be able to forget You or be separated from You.

I implore, by all Your goodness, that my heart be written in You, as I wish all my happiness / and all my glory to consist of / living and dying as Your slave. Amen.

Consecration to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary

Ô Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, / we come to You this day / to compassionate Your sorrows / and to consecrate ourselves to You. / We come to consecrate to Your Heart, to console it, / the Pilgrims of Saint Michael and their work. / May our hearts beat in union with Yours. / We want to live like You and with You, / in love of purity, ô Immaculate Heart, / in the generosity of sacrifice, Ô Sorrowful Heart, I in an ardent love for God and for our brethren, / a fruitful and true love, Ô maternal Heart.

Triumph soon, ô Immaculate Heart, I powerfully plead our cause at the tribunal of God, / that through You, mercy triumphs over justice. / Convert us, / convert sinners, / convert Russia. / Cause, ô triumphant Heart, / to have established on earth, a true and lasting peace, the peace of Christ, / in the reign of Christ. Amen.

Enrollment under the Banner of Saint Michael the Archangel

Banner-bearer in the army of God, / Saint Michael the Archangel, / though very, unworthy, we implore the favour / of being accepted in your terrestrial army / under the title of pilgrims working in their domain / in pursuit of a better world / as desired by God.

We place under your shield / the line of action in which we have become engaged. / Deign to inspire and help your humble pilgrims / so that their works may produce fruits / of sanctification and of salvation for themselves and for their brethren.

As you guided in the past, Saint Joan of Arc, / so young, so weak according to the world, so unexperienced, / in her perilous mission for the salvation of her country, / and so also, deign to guide us in our objectives / and in the choice of the means to attain them, I and protect us against the snares sown on our way.

Enlighten our way, / permit not our passions to turn us away / or our weakness to stop us. / Send your angels to keep us from going astray, / teach us to praise God / and remain in humility at all times, / so that we do not fall into hell, / opened up by the pride of Satan. / Ô Great Prince Saint Michael, deign to accept the expression of our good will. / Present it to Jesus our King and Mary our Queen, / and at the hour of our death, / hasten to open for us the door of Heaven. Amen.

One recites one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be for the intentions of the Holy Father.
