Centennial of the Apparitions at Fatima

Here we are, after preparing for all those years. The 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima was celebrated in May of 2017, and providentially, Pope Francis was able to celebrate, at the same time, the canonization of two of the three young seers, Jacinta and Francisco Marto. Mary’s message at Fatima remains relevant; it is the message of the Gospel: conversion, prayer and penance. Otherwise we risk eternal damnation, the Virgin Mary having even shown the children a vision of hell, which is real indeed.

Those who believe that hell is an invention of the Church to scare people should read the Fatima message, said Francis Cardinal Arinze of Nigeria, prefect emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, in an interview he granted to LifeSiteNews in Rome in May of 2017. Our Lady of Fatima showed the three young shepherds that hell does exist, and that it is not empty, he reminds us.

This is an essential part of the Fatima message: The Holy Mother of God asked that prayers and penance be offered for the conversion of sinners, so that God’s mercy might “save us from the fires of hell”, “especially those who are most in need of His mercy”, as in the prayer she taught Lucy, Francisco and Jacinta.

Cardinal Arinze declared that when a Catholic denies the existence of hell and continues to live in his sinful ways, he acts like a university student who would delude himself by thinking there will be no final exam, so as not to have to study: “If you do not wish to study, I promise you will fail the exam. No use saying there will be no exam: there will be one. Therefore, we will not solve the problem of hell by saying that it scares people or that it upsets them.”

He reminded us that “it is Our Lord Himself who reiterated the existence of hell, in the Gospel, speaking of a place where there would be ‘crying and gnashing of teeth.’ He spoke of those who would be ‘punished forever’. Christ is the Son of God. If someone is merciful, it must be Him. If He spoke these words, it is in our own best interest to take them seriously.”

Louis Even pointed out that it was Providence’s doing that Social Credit be conceived by C.H. Douglas in 1917, during the year of the Fatima Apparitions. In fact, if the message of Our Lady to the three young shepherds brings a spiritual solution against Communism (which, as Our Lady said, would spread its errors throughout the world if we did not convert ourselves), Social Credit is a temporal, technical solution to stop Communism (and Socialism) by turning everyone into a true capitalist, a co-owner of the natural resources and progress.
